WATERMEAD STORY : In February 2001 the Watermead Apostolate moved to St Joseph’s, on the other side of the city of Leicester, some miles from our birth parish of St Theresa’s.  Three years later (2004) the musicians and singers involved in our early recordings, came together at St Theresa’s for the Requiem Mass of a long-term friend and musician - Cliff Powdrill.  There had always been choirs and music groups in that parish but the “Cello Band” (named after Cliff) had been the foundation on which was built the St Theresa’s choir that took part in Watermead’s first recordings.

The Cello Band with Cliff (right in the cream jacket )  9 of the singers pictured with him went on to sing on the first Watermead recording “Our Songs Give Praise”

Following the funeral, Cliff’s widow, Betty, gave a donation to Watermead which paid for the digital transfer of the tracks for this CD “Our Songs Gave Praise”.  The CD was made as a thank you to all involved in our beginnings - and a celebration of the first ten years of recording our own music.
