Children have always been involved in our apostolate and so are represented in many of the items produced: children as young as five sing on our recordings, have submitted prayers and poems – their participation always having been encouraged.  Most of the children were introduced to the work of the apostolate through the parish children’s liturgy, and at St Theresa’s, the birth parish of Watermead, a thriving band of over thirty children led the music and prayer at mass once a month – resulting in our Watermead hymns and songs being written especially for them (see our music pages).  Many of the children attended the local Catholic primary and secondary schools and we share some of the stationery that we have produced for them over the years.

After moving to St. Joseph’s the first publishing project undertaken was designing a prayer card for the newly-formed Children’s Liturgy. Out of St Joseph’s Children’s Liturgy grew the children’s own website and its creator, Lynn, produced two series of cards and laminates - “Frankie Cards and Stationery” and “Ositos Cards”.

Frankie was the mascot of the children’s website, named after the guide dog of a blind parishioner. He was adopted as the children’s cartoon mascot, who guided them around the various pages of their website.  Along with a series of cards Lynn also produced a collection of laminated prayers called ‘Paws for Prayer’

“Ositos” is Spanish for “Little Bears” and this series was created from photographing the little craft bears, knitted by an elderly religious sister to raise funds for one of our Watermead charities, “Let the Children Live”.

Other cards and items have been produced to support Lynn’s work with the Mother of Peace charity which cares for a community of Aids orphans in Zimbabwe.  These are for the young at heart as well as the children and where available they can be obtained from our internet shop - just type “Mother of Peace” in the search box and it will bring up any related items.
