“Apeel” Scatter Cards

Home Mission Sunday 2005 saw the launch of a new range of cards!

There were over 100 in the series (made available in packs of 20). Each card has an appealing thought to offer and they are, as the title suggests, little cards to scatter around - in the post, leave on a visit, slip in a book, etc. - in fact anywhere people would like to cause a smile, comfort, inspire.

It began when a gift was given and five cards were designed.

The idea grew and Fr John collected and was given many phrases that it was thought people would like to share.  Gill then spent many hours matching words to pictures to create what are very "appealing" little cards.  (Everything that Watermead produces is first a gift from one person to another - and the name "A-Peal" Scatter Cards is our reminder of the story that began these cards.)

Since their launch many have been scattered and we hope they are bringing a smile, cheering a heart, offering inspiration, etc. to all who are finding them. We have even received a few ourselves!  They are now around the world with people contacting us having found them in Australia, America, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Phlippines, New Zealand ~ in fact we have lost count of the places.  Many of them were distributed in Australia by our young pilgrims during "World Youth Day" 2008.

Gill and her late husband, John, had been a wonderful support to our apostolate over the years, and especially during the transition period from St Theresa’s to St Joseph’s.  Gill is also gifted artistically and many of the handmade craft cards sold in our Watermead Shop over the years have been produced by Gill.
