  • TWILIGHT RETREATS

    First there was Covid Pandemic interruption and then Fr John had to shield at intervals through 2020-2023 because of treatment for myeloma.


    It is hoped that retreats will resume - either in person or, if this is not possible, then virtually.  A programme and details will be posted when decisions have been made.

    Also of interest is St Joseph's YouTube page where Fr John has been celebrating a streamed mass - sharing guidance usually given at our retreats through his homilies. There are over 300 videos recorded during the lockdown of churches from 2020-2022 and his mass still continues to be streamed each Sunday.

  • Fr JOHN'S PILGRIMAGE UK PILGRIMAGES

    Whilst the Covid-19 pandemic meant that we were unable to take pilgrims to Italy, France, Malta, etc., Fr John was busy exploring the possibility of pilgrimages by coach to various places around the UK.


    We began in October 2020 when 41 of us travelled by coach to Fr John's hometown of Cardiff where we received a wonderful welcome by members of his family.


    As soon as dates and venues for 2023/24 are decided they will be advertised here and in St Joseph's parish newsletter. Watch this space!


    Important to Note that a requirement  for all who would like to travel with us is that they are up-to-date with all the Covid vaccinations available to them.  There will also be other considerations and these will be given on the booking form.

  • PILGRIMAGE to ROME & ASSISI: 16th-23rd NOVEMBER 2023

    SHARED/TWIN ROOM £1,075 per person

    SINGLE ROOM £1,350 per person


    Assisi for 3 nights and Rome for 4 nights.  Price includes bed, breakfast and evening meal, plus airport transfers to and from St Joseph's, Leicester, in the UK and in Rome and the travel to hotels in both Assisi and Rome.


    Places can be booked by completing a booking form and submitting along with a non-refundable deposit of £400 per person

  • WATERMEAD CANDLELIGHT CAROLS

    In December 2021 we did manage to have an outdoor service and, although Omnicron was just threatening to bring in more restrictions, around 35 people managed to come and join us and we still had a prayerful and musical candlelight service, along with the traditional festive refreshments outside (the weather was dry and unsually mild for a December evening).


    In December 2022 we had a very prayerful indoor candlelight Carol Service in St Joseph's Church followed by seasonal refreshments (visit YouTube for video)


    This year, 2023, we shall review our plans based on the experiences of the last couple of years - so watch this space!


  • PILGRIMAGE HOLIDAY to MALTA

  • CANADIAN ROCKIES in early February 2024

    Fr John’s hopes to visit friends and former pupils in Prince George: staying 5 nights in Jasper and Banff and 3 in Prince George, Central B.C.  If finalised details will be posted here.

  • PILGRIMAGE to LOURDES 2024

  • PILGRIMAGE PADUA/STRESA postponed to 2024

     PADUA/VENICE/STRESA/LAKE MAGGIORE


    Details

    We had reserved hotel rooms from 26th July – 4th August 2023. Unfortunately, the airline we were using changed its schedules making the booked hotel dates impossible and no alternative dates/flights could be found.. We had not accepted or paid deposits so no monies were lost, but sadly we could not go ahead.


    We asked the hotels to rebook our places for 2024 and, if there is enough interest and reasonable flights can be found, we shall follow the same schedule as detailed below.


    a. Padua – 4 nights at the hotel, Casa del Pellegrino, across the road from St Anthony’s Basilica where we have mass each day. We also include 2 full days to Venice by coach from the hotel.


    b. Stresa and Lake Maggiore – 5 nights to include Lake Orta, a lakeside tour, and Stresa itself.

IMPORTANT NOTE RE TRAVEL INSURANCE: The pilgrimage hotels we use have been very helpful in holding provisional places whilst we explore travel options and secure interest. Given the uncertainty of the last couple of (pandemic) years, it is understandable that some hotels now require an earlier deposit than previously and we shall have to incorporate this into the deposit we ask for.  We advise all who book to travel with us arrange their own travel insurance on booking, and read carefully the small print as regards possible cancellation should the unforeseen happen.

"TWILIGHT" RETREATS : These were happening each month before the Covid-19 pandemic with the dates and themes being decided a couple of months in advance. As soon as is possible we shall resume.
