Let the children Live is a charity of Last Resort whose aim is that the forgotten children of Colombia may have life; life in all its fulness. The founder Fr Peter Walters leads the charity in its work in Colombia with children (once called ‘the disposable ones’) from the streets and shanty-towns of the city of Medellín.

SPICMA is a Catholic charity which aims to help those who would otherwise fall between the cracks left by the larger charities. It reaches out to the poorest and most marginalized in the developing world. Working through the missionary Church to help and also assist in projects which enable the local Catholic Church to grow on the ground.

Their founder was radical economist and philosopher E.F. ‘Fritz’ Schumacher, a visionary who challenged the aid policies of the day. In today’s increasingly divided world suffering from catastrophic climate change, his ideas chime as loud as ever.

Around the world, torture is still used to silence and destroy lives. 'Freedom from Torture' stands with survivors, providing therapy and support, and fighting for change together. Founded in 1985 as the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture by Helen Bamber and Amnesty International volunteers, they have been helping survivors overcome their torture and live better, happier lives.

The Open Hands Trust, was established in 2006 to help those most vulnerable and disadvantaged in society. It provides emergency support and care for people in need in Leicester, empowering individuals to move forward in their lives through offering practical help (ie  Pie Night, Food, Clothing and Furniture stores) English Classes and advice, skills training and mentoring opportunities.

CAFOD is an international development charity reaching out to people living in poverty with practical help, whatever their religion or culture. CAFOD is the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales and part of Caritas International.

Through the global Catholic Church network, one of the largest in the world, they have the potential to reach everyone. They also campaign for global justice, so that every woman, man and child can live a full and dignified life.

Mercy Ships is a faith-based international development organisation that deploys hospital ships to some of the poorest countries in the world, delivering vital, free healthcare to people in desperate need and has worked in more than 55 countries, providing services valued at more than £1.3 billion. Mercy Ships follows the model of Jesus by “bringing hope and healing to the forgotten poor”, helping people of all faiths and none.

The British Red Cross Society is the United Kingdom body of the worldwide neutral and impartial humanitarian network the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, formed in 1870. At the heart of their work is providing help to people in crisis, both in the UK and overseas. The Red Cross is committed to helping people without discrimination, regardless of their ethnic origin, nationality, political beliefs or religion.

Emmaus is a homelessness charity with a difference who don’t just give people a bed for the night; they offer a home, meaningful work and a sense of belonging.

There are now 30 residential communities spread across the UK and three Emmaus groups currently working to open new communities.

They support more than 850 people who have experienced homelessness, providing support, a home and meaningful work along with training in their social enterprises.
